Endeavor Closes Its Fifth Avenue Taproom After Nearly a Decade
The brewstillery's last scheduled day of regular service at 909 W. Fifth Ave. was Oct. 29, and its Linworth room, Barrel & Bloom, stays open. Status: Closed.
Thursday, October 29, was the final day of regular service at the Endeavor Brewing & Spirits taproom on West Fifth Avenue, the date the company set in a closing notice at the top of its own website. The owners wrote that the room was ending nearly ten years in business and asked regulars to come in for one last pint and to thank the bartenders on the way out.
The building at 909 W. Fifth Ave., close to the Grandview Heights line, is now done with walk-in drinking. When we checked the site again on Friday morning, October 30, the notice was unchanged, still naming Thursday as the final day, and no date had been posted for the farewell party the owners promised.
Endeavor is not going away entirely. The company calls itself the first brewstillery in Columbus, since it makes both beer and spirits, and its notice says Barrel & Bloom, the newer room at 2365 W. Dublin-Granville Road in Linworth, keeps its usual schedule. That spot works more like a cafe by day, pouring espresso drinks from 8 a.m., and from Thursday through Saturday the bar keeps pouring until 10 at night. Mondays it is dark.
Two pieces of business remain on Fifth Avenue. Groups that already booked private parties can still hold them there through the holidays, and the owners say a thank-you gathering for longtime customers and partners is coming, with the date to follow. Nothing has been said about who might take the space next, so we have no replacement tenant to report. 614NOW covered the original announcement last week.
Neighbors who used to walk over for a pint now face a drive up to Linworth. Endeavor is the third brewery closing on our October list, following Outerbelt in Carroll, and Hoster on James Road pours for the last time on Saturday.
