About
How we rank
Lists are short on purpose. A Best Overall badge means we would spend our own Saturday there first. Rankings are our opinions, and they can change.
We publish short Best Of lists, neighborhood guides, Things to Do pages, events, and local news for Columbus, Ohio and the 614. The point is a clear call on where to spend a Saturday, written by people who live here.
How a list gets made
We visit. Then we visit again. A Best Overall badge means we would spend our own money and our own Saturday there first. Picks are ordered by what held up under repeat trips: the plate or service we ordered, what it cost in 2026, how the room felt, and who it actually suits. Stretch picks are labeled when a plate is adjacent to the category rather than a textbook example. We pay our own checks.
Every ranking is an editorial opinion. Taste, menus, rooms, and ownership change, and so can our order. When we revisit a category, we update the page and note what moved.
The Best Overall badge
We sell the Best Overall badge in a media kit for use at the business. Different options exist depending on how you want to display it. To request a media kit, send a note through the contact form.
Site advertising, when we offer it, sits apart from how we write and order editorial lists. Buying a media kit does not change a ranking.
How to get on a list
Tell us about a place that belongs. Use the nomination form with the name, neighborhood, and why it should be on a list. Editors read every note. A nomination is not a guarantee, but it is how we find rooms we have not tried yet.
Corrections
If an address, phone number, hour pattern, price band, or fact is wrong, use the contact form with the page URL and the correction. We fix verified errors and note material changes when a list is updated.
Who writes this
Lists, guides, and news are written by Bart Rian, who grew up in Columbus, left for Austin, and came back to raise a family in Powell. The voice is first-person plural on purpose: these are judgments from people who live here, not a national template with a Columbus sticker on it.
