Hoster Brewing Sets Final Day on James Road
The East Side brewery at 653 N. James Rd. has a farewell calendar that runs from Oktoberfest to a Halloween send-off. Status: Last day October 31.

Hoster Brewing Company has set Saturday, October 31, as the last day for its brewery and taproom at 653 N. James Rd., near John Glenn Columbus International Airport. The date sits on the brewery's own event calendar, where the Halloween listing is titled Hoster Halloween and Final Day.
"Our last day just happens to fall on Halloween," the brewery said in the announcement. That night starts at 4 p.m. with Tortilla Street Food parked outside, horror movies playing on a loop and a costume contest once the room fills. The listing promises to keep pouring until at least the usual 10 p.m. close, and later if people stay.
The weeks before Halloween read like a farewell tour. Oktoberfest runs Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, with Märzen and Festbier on draft, a Columbus Maennerchor set Friday at 7 p.m., a cigar and beer pairing that night, and house-cooked brats with biergarten games Saturday afternoon. On Friday, October 16, the brewery taps rye barrel-aged versions of its Captivator Doppelbock and Honey Rye Tripel and says goodbye to head brewer Andy. Saturday, October 17, is a Farewell Caturday for taproom cat Mr. Biscuits, with donations collected for the Cat Welfare Association. From October 28 through closing time on Halloween, a blacklight ghost hunt sends guests through the building looking for clues.
Regular hours stay posted until the end: closed Monday and Tuesday, 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.
James Road is on the East Side, a long way from the Brewery District blocks where the Hoster name first took root in the 1800s. For beer nights after the taproom goes dark, start with the events calendar and the rooms on our Best Entertainment Venues list.
Status: last day October 31, per the brewery's own Final Day listing.
