Ohio duo Over the Rhine, Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler, bring their 30-year December tradition of dark, warm holiday songs to the Lincoln Theatre on December 2, 2026.
Over the Rhine play An Acoustic Christmas at the Lincoln Theatre on Wednesday, December 2, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
The duo of Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler took their name from the Cincinnati neighborhood where they started, and now live on their farm, Nowhere Else, in Clinton County. Their December shows began almost by accident: a public radio station asked for a few carols, listeners wanted recordings, and in 1996 they released The Darkest Night of the Year. That record turns 30 this season. Snow Angels, a full set of original holiday songs, followed in 2006, then Blood Oranges in the Snow in 2014.
In his note for this tour, Detweiler promises close harmonies and an intimate but hopefully holy ruckus, with plenty of non-holiday songs from across their catalog. Their seasonal music sits on the wistful side, closer to winter dusk than sleigh bells, which suits the restored 1928 Lincoln well.
