Walter Parks at Natalie's Grandview

Walter Parks plays Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.

Parks grew up in North Florida near the Okefenokee Swamp, at the headwaters of the Suwannee River, and much of his music comes from that place. He has researched and reworked the hollers, hymns and reels of the swamp's homesteaders, and that work is archived in the Library of Congress American Folklife collection.

He spent 10 years touring and recording with Woodstock legend Richie Havens, which put him onstage at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden and Glastonbury. In 2014 he was Judy Collins's sole accompanist for her Lincoln Center tribute to Pete Seeger. He also leads two roots groups, the electric folk-rock band Swamp Cabbage and The Unlawful Assembly, which reimagines spirituals. Now based in St. Louis, he brings a guitar style and a store of stories that fit the small room.
