Ordinary Woman has its world premiere at the Davidson Theatre in the Riffe Center, with three performances only: Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m.

The new musical is a collaboration among CAPA, BalletMet and the European production company ODD Continent. It reworks songs by Sheryl Crow, from "Steve McQueen" to "Strong Enough," through a mix of drama, ballet and live music on stage. The story follows two estranged Midwestern sisters who are pushed back together by environmental and social upheaval and have to square their very different memories of the past.

The show was built in Columbus by a local and international team that includes BalletMet artistic director Remi Wörtmeyer, which means dancers carry much of the storytelling. Seeing a new work in its hometown before it travels is rare, and the 900-seat Davidson keeps the dance close enough to read.
