New Albany lights its holiday tree at Rose Run Park at 5:00 p.m. on November 22, 2026, after an afternoon Santa Skate at the Hinson Amphitheater ice rink.
The City of New Albany holds its Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Rose Run Park at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2026, with the tree in a new spot in the park this year. A children's choir leads carols before Santa and the mayor count down to the lighting, and free hot drinks and donuts are handed out.
Earlier in the day, the outdoor ice rink at the Hinson Amphitheater hosts Santa Skate from noon to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $15 per person and covers skate rental plus the extras: a photo with Santa, a station for writing letters to the North Pole, and jingle bell decorating. The rink stays open until 8:00 p.m., so you can skate again after the tree is lit.
The lighting itself is free. Rose Run Park sits in the New Albany village center, close to restaurants for an early dinner the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
