Fiddler Kate Knudsvig and accompanist Richard Hearn play the Trad Nua Celtic Series on Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
Knudsvig was born in Hof, Germany, trained as a classical violinist at Eastman and switched paths after falling for Irish traditional music at the New England Conservatory, where she earned a master's in contemporary musical arts under fiddler Liz Knowles. Now based in Boston, she is the fiddler for the PBS group Celtic Thunder, tours with Irish tenor Emmet Cahill and plays in the all-female trad ensemble Forsyth.
Hearn picked up Irish music while living in Europe and is now a fixture of the Baltimore scene. He runs the Baltimore Irish Music School, directs the Baltimore Irish Tenor Banjo Summit and Baltimore Irish Trad Fest, and tours with his trio the East Coasters. As a duo they pair her ornamented fiddle with his driving rhythm backing, the classic core of a session.
