Bad Karl Funk and Soul Night at Natalie's Grandview

Bad Karl takes over Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. It is a ticketed evening show with food and drinks served before and during the set.

The band is eight players from Columbus, built around a horn line, a stack of vocalists and a rhythm section that keeps the floor moving. Their reference points run from James Brown and Stevie Wonder through to modern funk acts like Bruno Mars and Vulfpeck, and they rework covers with long improvised stretches rather than playing them note for note. The catalog spans the 1960s to now, so a set can swing from a classic soul groove to a recent pop hit dressed in brass.

Fitting eight musicians on the smaller stage at Natalie's makes for a loud, close night. A Wednesday slot also lands just before Halloween weekend, which makes it an easy midweek outing.
