The Wood Pickers play a free Happening Hour on Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview on Thursday, October 29, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m.

The quintet pulls together players from several long-running Columbus string bands, including One Riot One Ranger, Death by Banjo, Grassahol and Likely Story. Pete Remenyi plays resonator guitar and harmonica, Chas Williams handles mandolin and fiddle, Tom Zinser is on guitar, Heidi White plays bass, and Mike McGannon switches between banjo and guitar. Their three and four part harmonies reach for the high lonesome sound of traditional bluegrass, and the set wanders into old-time tunes, country, blues and their own songs.

With five pickers and a single row of microphones, the music has the feel of a jam that happens to have a set list. There is no charge, the band plays for tips, and early arrivals get the best view of the stage.
