Drummer David Leytze leads a quartet through 1950s and 1960s West Coast cool jazz in a free Saturday Happening Hour at Natalie's Grandview on October 17, 2026.
Drummer David Leytze brings a quartet to Natalie's Grandview for a free Happening Hour on Saturday, October 17, 2026, running 5:15 to 7:00 p.m. on Charlie's Stage. There is no cover, and the band plays for tips.
The program sticks to the cool school that grew up in California studios and clubs during the 1950s and early 1960s: relaxed tempos, light swing and horn lines that float instead of shout. The event art names Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Paul Desmond, Dave Brubeck, Shorty Rogers and Vince Guaraldi as sources, and the set mixes familiar standards with lesser-heard tunes from the same era. Joining Leytze on the poster are Donovan, Hare and Smith, a lineup drawn from the local jazz scene.
It is an easy early-evening set before a Saturday night out, and the full kitchen and bar run during the show. Tables fill quickly for free shows, so booking a spot ahead is smart.
