R.L.J.Q. plays Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2026. The Ohio-based quartet is led by Rolando Matias, a Puerto Rican percussionist and drummer who builds the band's sound on Afro-Caribbean rhythm while keeping jazz harmony and soloing at the center.

Matias has shared stages with trumpeters Brian Lynch, Ray Vega, and Arturo Sandoval, percussionist Bill Summers, and pianists Chucho and Chuchito Valdes. The group has headlined clubs such as Jazz Alley in Seattle, the Iridium in New York, and the Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis, and his recordings have drawn reviews in JazzTimes, DownBeat, and Jazziz.

Expect clave-driven tunes, long timbale and conga breaks, and standards recast with Latin grooves. A Thursday in the smaller room is an easy way to hear a band of this caliber up close.
