Irish trio Open the Door for Three, with fiddle, uilleann pipes and bouzouki, play the Trad Nua series at Natalie's Grandview on October 16, 2026.
The Trad Nua concert series brings Open the Door for Three to Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 8:30 p.m.
The trio is fiddler Liz Knowles, uilleann piper Kieran O'Hare and Dublin-born singer Pat Broaders, who plays bouzouki. Their repertoire is a mix of tunes dug out of centuries-old collections, new melodies they wrote themselves, and fresh arrangements of old songs. Some numbers pay tribute to the bands they grew up hearing.
The uilleann pipes are the instrument to listen for. Bellows-blown and played seated, they have a softer, sweeter tone than the Scottish highland pipes, and they blend with fiddle in a way few instruments can. Charlie's Stage is the smaller of the two rooms, so the trio will be right in front of the tables, and the kitchen serves dinner before and during the set.
