Columbus contemporary troupe Whirlwind Dance Company premieres Nearsited, an evening-length work about perception and the far side of the moon, at the Lincoln Theatre on October 25, 2026.
Whirlwind Dance Company stages Nearsited at the Lincoln Theatre on Sunday, October 25, 2026, with performances at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. The company is presenting the show itself, renting the East Long Street hall.
Nearsited is a new evening-length piece about perspective: what is right in front of us versus what sits just out of view. The far side of the moon is the starting image, and the choreography moves between close, grounded partnering and wide, cosmic stage pictures. The company frames the question as whether seeing clearly might require stepping back.
Whirlwind was founded in 2020 and is led by artistic director Joshua Manculich, who also teaches dance at Denison University. It operates as a professional contemporary company and nonprofit, creating original work and running training and mentorship for younger dancers. The Lincoln, a restored 1928 theatre in King-Lincoln Bronzeville, gives a mid-size local company a real stage with a historic proscenium.
