Columbus ornamental Americana band Hello Emerson play a one-night release show for their fourth album, built from interviews with strangers about heartbreak, at Natalie's on November 14, 2026.
Hello Emerson celebrates the release of its fourth album, Brief Interviews on Heartbreak, on Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. It is billed as a one-night-only release show.
Sam Emerson Bodary started the band in 2015 and describes it as ornamental Americana. In fall 2024, coming off a breakup and a hard stretch at home, he invited strangers to sign up for recorded 20 minute video calls about the formative heartbreaks of their lives. The stories turned out stranger and more specific than he expected, from lost partners to lost parents. One became "Bright Yellow," about a woman who visited the site of her father's plane crash and found a field of sunflowers. Bodary began with solo bedroom versions, then rebuilt the songs with the full band for this record, which also drew support from a Greater Columbus Arts Council grant.
Hearing the songs in a quiet listening room fits the material.
