Donny Benét with OTNES at A&R Music Bar

Donny Benét plays A&R Music Bar on Saturday, November 7, 2026, with OTNES opening. The all-ages show has a 7:00 p.m. door.

The Sydney musician has built a cult following with deadpan, lounge-lizard synth-pop, playing up a character who seems beamed in from a 1980s late-night TV show. Behind the mustache and the shades is a serious bassist, and the grooves are the real draw. He released his debut, Don't Hold Back, in 2011 on Rice Is Nice, and his fifth album, Mr Experience, reached No. 26 on the Australian charts in 2020.

This tour follows il Basso, released February 13, 2026, a record built around his instrument right down to its title. A Saturday night at A&R with Benét plays as part concert and part comedy act, with the bass lines doing most of the talking.
