Shenandoah Valley band Dogwood Tales bring songs from Every Star in Rockingham County to Natalie's Grandview on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Dogwood Tales play Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
The band comes from Harrisonburg, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley. Childhood friends Kyle Grim and Ben Ryan share guitars and vocals and have been singing together for about half their lives, with Jake Golibart on drums and Danny Gibney on bass. Their new album, Every Star in Rockingham County, names their home county in its title and doubles as a love letter to the local DIY scene, the farmland and the Blue Ridge.
The songs can be heavy. "Mt. Jackson" is about Grim watching a cheerful, tractor-driving uncle end up in a hospital bed. The sound is lighter than that sounds, though, with pedal steel, power-pop drumming and video game samples that slip into tracks like "Princess Peach." It is indie Americana with a sense of humor, and a Tuesday at Natalie's is an easy way to hear it.
