Oregon jazz brothers Dana and Alden bring their Papa's Boat Tour to A&R Music Bar on Friday, October 16, 2026, with Alex Amen.
Dana and Alden McWayne play A&R Music Bar on Friday, October 16, 2026, on the Papa's Boat Tour, with Alex Amen opening a night that starts at 7:00 p.m.
The brothers grew up in Eugene, Oregon, with Dana on saxophone and Alden on drums, and their records fold jazz, bossa nova and soft 1970s soul into short, melodic tunes. Papa's Boat, released on Concord Jazz, is a tribute to their late grandfather. They recorded it in London, New York and Brazil, and Brazilian legend Marcos Valle took part in the sessions, which explains the bossa nova feel running through it.
The duo found a young audience online that does not usually go to jazz clubs, so expect a crowd that knows the songs from playlists and treats the show more like an indie gig. A standing room like A&R suits that energy better than a seated listening room would, and it gives a Friday night in the Arena District a different flavor.
