Home preseason opener against the Red Wings at Nationwide Arena. Lower stakes than October, still a real NHL night in the Arena District
The Columbus Blue Jackets open their home preseason slate against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Nationwide Arena. Preseason lineups rotate, so you may see prospects and depth players alongside regulars testing systems before opening night.
Tickets are usually easier and cheaper than a midseason Saturday, which makes these games useful for first-time visitors or families who want the arena experience without peak prices. Parking decks and High Street restaurants behave like any Jackets night, just with a slightly lighter crowd.
Arrive for warmups if that is your thing, and check the Jackets site for any promotional giveaways. Mobile tickets through Ticketmaster remain the standard entry method.
