When the weather holds, toddlers still need animals, gardens, playgrounds, and short paved loops more than a long hike. Our new ranking, Best Outdoor Activities for Toddlers in Columbus, Ohio, covers Powell through Westerville, the Near East Side, Lewis Center, Dublin, Franklinton, and Hilliard with splash pads noted only as a seasonal bonus rather than the main reason to go.

Ryan locked Columbus Zoo and Aquarium as Best Overall alone for Little Explorers Base Camp, Shores Play Park, Polar Playground, and stroller-friendly paths on the Powell campus. Columbus Parks Systems sits as a separate finalist for city Rec and Parks plus Metro Parks playgrounds, followed by Inniswood Sisters' Garden, Franklin Park Conservatory Children's Garden, Highbanks, Glacier Ridge, Scioto Audubon, and Homestead.

A pick qualifies when strollers and short attention spans still work on the grounds. We judged on toddler play structures, easy paths, and whether a caregiver would plan a full outdoor morning there without inventing a backup drive across town mid-meltdown.

Use it with our winter toddler activities list when wind pushes you indoors, keep neighborhood context on Powell for Zoo days, and browse more ranked picks on the Best Of index.

The list is live now. Confirm hours and weather the morning you go.
