Mozart's Bakery Closing Christmas Eve After 31 Years in Clintonville

Clintonville is losing one of its longest-running bakery and tea rooms. Mozart's Bakery and Piano Cafe, 4784 N. High St., will close after Dec. 24, 2026, as owners Anand and Doris Saha retire from 31 years of European pastries, reserved afternoon tea, and banquet service.
Columbus Navigator reported the end date today after Columbus Business First carried the retirement news Monday. A weekend Facebook birthday note for Anand had already tipped regulars that more news was coming. The couple told the Clintonville Spotlight earlier this summer they planned to keep the doors open at least through the end of 2026; that timeline now ends on Christmas Eve.

What happens to the Mozart's Building
The closing follows the sale of the property itself. In July and August reporting, the Sahas agreed to sell 4784 N. High St. to 1831 Management, the group behind the Worthington Inn purchase and Wolf's Ridge Brewing's presence there. New owners have said they will keep calling the site the Mozart's Building and are shopping for a mix of tenants, from retail to health care. Jerry DiPizzo of 1831 told the Spotlight they want uses that respect the neighborhood and the landmark structure.
The building opened in 1930 as the Beechwold Tavern and later housed Cord Camera and Azia Oriental Rugs before the Sahas bought it in 2012 and spent a year restoring it. Mozart's opened first at 2885 N. High St. in 1995, then moved into the restored Beechwold Tavern address in July 2013. Along the way the bakery says it raised more than $500,000 for neighborhood nonprofits through events in its rooms.
Hours, bookings, and what to do before Christmas Eve
For now the cafe lists Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with afternoon tea by reservation. As of the Navigator report, the website was still accepting holiday party inquiries and showing weddings and showers on the events calendar. Neither the Sahas nor Business First has spelled out what happens to bookings after Dec. 24, and Mozart's had not posted a full closing announcement of its own when Navigator published.
